1. Murad’s Gate

Murad’s Gate

East Portal or "Murad’s Gate" - is the construction of the palace, built during the seizure of Baku by Turks in the XVI century. There is emblazoned inscription on the top in Arabic: it is commanded to build a noble building, in the days of the reign of justice and the greatest Sultan - Murad, Ulu Rajab-baba Bakuya in 994 AH (1585-86 years). "

The architectural style matches the style of the tomb of the Shirvan Shahs, but at the same time, there are noticeable decline in architectural culture - this is reflected the poor quality of the stone and the collapse of the skills of Azerbaijan ornament. It is associated with a difficult period, remember the frequent military attacks on the local area.
